February 10, 2017 Tension As Arik Air Vows to Challenge Nigerian Government Over Takeover Following the takeover of Arik Air by Federal Government over its huge indebtedness, the airline's management has vowed to stage a protest and also challenge the action.   Arik Air management has disclosed it would challenge the taking over of the airline by the Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) in court. Ado Sanusi, Senior Vice President, Arik Air made the disclosure at a joint news conference with the newly appointed receiver manager, Oluseye Opasanya, and the airline’s technical consultant, Roy Ilegbodu. The asset company had on Thursday taken over the airline following its huge indebtedness to local and foreign creditors. EFCC Discovers Multi-Million Foreign Currencies in Home of Ex-GMD of NNPC According to a developing story, gallant operatives of the EFCC have discovered multi-million hard currencies after a raid on the home of former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Andrew Yakubu in Kaduna state. He was one of the men said to be very close to Madam Diezani Allison-Madueke. Sahara Reporters disclosed that the anti-graft body is alleged to have found $9.2million and 74,000 British Pounds in cash during the raid. What happened next? The 11 had vanished earlier that day after a group of Boko Haram militants attacked their village, Daggu. Three local people were shot dead and cars, houses and food stores set ablaze. Daggu is a half-hour drive from Chibok where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted in April 2014.
