Tinubu donates N200m to contain COVID-19

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Bola Tinubu has donated N200 million to support current effort of the Federal Government towards curbing the spread of CoronaVirus in Nigeria. Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, stated on his twitter handle on Sunday, that the donation would go to the Lagos State Government and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to battle the scourge in the country. ‘2 out of 93 samples tested positive for COVID-19 in Bauchi’

The Bauchi State Government says two out of the 93 samples collected from the state tested positive to coronavirus (COVID-19) virus. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro, made this known while addressing news conference on Sunday in Bauchi. “Blood samples from 93 persons were collected in the state for the COVID-19 test and two came back positive and are receiving treatment. ”91 others came back negative. We collected more samples yesterday and today to send to Abuja for examination. ”We want to collect as much samples as we can to Abuja for testing. We will collect all the samples from the list of our surveillance activities”, he added. BREAKING: Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases rise to 111

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported fourteen new cases of coronavirus in the country, taking the total number of infections to 111. According to the NCDC, nine new cases were confirmed in Lagos while five new cases were confirmed in Abuja. Of the 111 cases confirmed in the country, one death has been recorded. NCDC said, “Fourteen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 9 in Lagos and 5 in FCT “As at 09:30 pm 29th March there are 111 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death.”

Ogun closes borders over COVID – 19

Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared the state will close its borders with the neighbouring states and the international border with the Republic of Benin from Sunday midnight. He said it will be in force for two weeks in the first instance With this restriction order, movement in and out of the state is banned as a further measure to contain the coronavirus pandemic, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, disclosed in a statement. Kaduna Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The governor, in a live broadcast said he submitted a sample for the COVID-19 test and the  result came in positive. He stated he has been in isolation according to doctors’ order. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced new cases of confirmed COVID-19. Nigeria now has 89 confirmed cases of the virus. COVID-19: ‘Lagos may record up to 39,000 cases***calls for strict obedience to preventive measures

The Lagos government has expressed fears that the state might record up to 39,000 cases of Covid-19 in the state. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, expressed this fear while briefing journalists at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday afternoon. He said though it may be the worst scenario, it could, however, be limited to 13,000 if everybody adheres to and practices the measures directed by the government, especially social distancing. “Our mathematical modelling shows that the worst-case scenario is that we may see up to 39,000 cases in Lagos, but if everyone practices good social distancing, the figure will be limited to 13,000. “If we add social distancing to active contact tracing, then we will be able to bend the curve further,” he said. Singer Davido’s fiancee, Chioma Rowland, has tested positive for coronavirus, 13 days after arriving from London. In a statement by the singer, Chioma tested positive after a test was conducted on himself, his baby, fiancee and 28 others, whom he has been exposed to. COVID-19: CAN orders total shut down of church activities in Ogun

The Ogun State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) on Friday issued fresh directive asking churches in the state to shut down all activities, including House Fellowship, totally to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. In a statement on Friday by the State Chapter Chairman, Bishop Tunde Akin – Akinsanya, he said in view of the trying time the world contends with today, Christians should apply the Godly wisdom as enunciated in the book of Isaiah 26:20 and stay indoor for a while until the danger posed by the COVID – 19 passed away.. COVID-19:UK plans to evacuate Britons in Nigeria

The United Kingdom is exploring flight options to evacuate its nationals willing to leave Nigeria The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms Catriona Laing, disclosed this on Friday. She said the decision was necessitated by “the rapidly changing situation in the region and recent airport closures” over the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19: Indian, bank staff, others quarantined in Ebonyi

Ebonyi State Governnor David Umahi had said that five persons are in self observation in the state. Among the five is an Indian, who arrived the country recently and a staff of First Bank who had contact with a returnee. The Governor stated this while briefing journalists on recent developments in the state on the Coronavirus outbreak. He said that 4 persons,(including the Indian) came into the state from different countries that have outbreak of the coronavirus while one person was said to have had contact with a retunee.
