Channels TV apologises for breach of broadcasting code – NBC

Agency Reporter The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Tuesday said Channels Television has apologised over its infraction of the broadcasting code. NBC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Franca Aiyetan, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday in Abuja. Aiyetan explained that the commission’s letter to the TV station was a regulatory instrument to check the excesses of the station called “the bridge letter “. She said that the intent of the letter was neither to close down nor sanction the station, rather it was meant to draw the station’s attention to its breach of the broadcasting code, adding that “the station has accordingly apologised’’. POLICE DISMISSES 3 OFFICERS FOR EXTORTION

The three policemen allegedly involved in the forceful extortion of N153,000 from one Sheriff Adedigba have been dismissed from service. The dismissed policemen are: Inspector Sunday John, Sgt Jimoh Asimiya and Sgt Solomon Adedapo. The 3 Dismissed Police Officers They were alleged to have forcefully extorted the amount from the victim while he was traveling from Abeokuta to Lagos. Having heard about the incident on social media, the commissioner of police Edward Ajogun ordered the immediate arrest and detention of the officers involved in the dastardly act. Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the three policemen were quickly identified and apprehended while the money was also recovered from them and returned to the victim. NDLEA Intercepts Drugs Hidden Inside Religious Statue And Auto Parts In Lagos (Photos)

By Lekan Adesina The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed that it found 140 grammes of methamphetamine concealed in a religious statue, en route the Philippines. Femi Babafemi, the agency’s spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. Babafemi said the agency also seized 500 grammes of heroin hidden in automobile spare parts en route Canada. According to the NDLEA spokesman, 3.1 kilogrammes of cannabis concealed inside spices and local herbs were also intercepted in a package bound for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Babafemi said the illicit drugs were sized in courier companies in Lagos state. “The narcotics agents from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations seized 500 grammes of heroin going to Canada and hidden inside auto spare parts from one of the courier firms, while 140 grammes of Methamphetamine going to Philippines and concealed inside statue of Mary was seized in another courier company,”  he said. “The Director, Operations ...

Police rescue kidnapped student in Osun

The Osun Police Command on Thursday said it rescued a 25-year-old female student of the Osun College of Health  Technology , Ilesa, who was abducted on Tuesday. Agba revealed this at the COVID-19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP) Conference organised by Connected Development (CODE) in partnership with BudgIT civil society organisation in Abuja.
