Happy Democracy Day! READ The Full Text Of President Jonathan’s Democracy Day Broadcast .   Fellow Nigerians, 1. I greet and felicitate with you all, today, as we mark 15 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in our beloved country. 2. Our dear nation, Nigeria, has certainly come a long way and made notable progress since our first Democracy Day on May 29, 1999 when the military finally relinquished power and handed over to a democratically-elected government, marking the true beginning of a government of the people, by the people, for the people.” 3. Although I have ordered a low-key commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day in deference to the current mood of the nation, there can be no doubt that the past 15 years, the longest period of sustained democratic governance in our country, have been a blessing to us, as a people. 4. As we commemorate 15 years of our Fourth Republic today therefore, I beli...

23yrs Old Chineme Nwoko Sentenced to 27 Years in Prison over Drug Deals With Women I just wonder why our youths are still risking their lives in this dirty trade after all that is happening to those who have been caught in foreign countries. Could this be said to be poverty or just stupidity? 23 year old Precious Chineme Nwoko has been sentenced to 27 years imprisonment by a Cambodian Court for drug trafficking in Cambodia.  According to police testimony in the country's court, Chineme Nwoko is one of the ringleaders in a deadly heroin smuggling cartel inside Cambodia.  He was arrested for handing a backpack containing 2.2 kilos (4.8 pounds) of heroin to two women. The women are 41year old Australian, Yoshe Ann Taylor, and 19 year old French, Charlene Savarino. The deal was for them to move the drugs for onward transportation to an unidentified drug baron in Australia where they were expected to be paid handsomely for their service.  Sad...

Robbers Kill Bank Manager & 4 Policemen, Cart Away Millions A gang of daredevil armed robbers on Wednesday shot and killed four policemen and a middle-aged man, said to be regional manager of a new generation bank at Igwurita community in the Ikwerre area of Rivers State. The incident which took place at 9:45am at the Igwuruta roundabout forced motorists plying the Airport Road to speed off while those who were near the scene abandoned their cars and scampered for safety. Like the motorists, pedestrians using the Airport Road also took to their heels on hearing the sound of gunshots, to avoid being hit by stray bullets. “The operation took place at the Igwuruta Roundabout. The armed robbers must have hidden somewhere waiting for the policemen to come out of the bank before they struck.” A witness said the bank manager was one of those in the vehicle which was conveying an unspecified amount of money to a destination when the daredevil robbers struck and c...

UPDATE: Senate Committee Did Not Absolve NNPC or Diezani ––Senator Bukola Saraki There is a calculated attempt by agents of the Presidency to sell a lie to Nigerians that Sanusi Lamido was not in any way saying the truth about missing Oil money and that Petroleum Minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke and her men at the NNPC have been cleared of the allegations. Here is a clarification: The recent media reports claiming that the Senate Committee on Finance has cleared the NNPC of any unaccounted revenue fund is not true. Though I could not attend the last meeting of the committee, I have been very active in the investigation. Nothing significant has changed to suggest clearing anybody. I can say on behalf of the Committee that these media reports bear no correlation to the content of the Senate Committee report and I would urge the public to disregard it in its entirety. That the Committee is yet to receive the report on forensic audit and independent analysis o...

Presidency-Sponsored Thugs Attack #BBOG Protesters In Abuja Nigerian leaders are a bunch of shameless folks. They can send thugs to attack their fellow citizens but do not have the guts to mobilize soldiers into Sambisa Forest to rescue our girls,  OluFamous.Com  observed. All hell was let loose on Wednesday at the Unity Fountain in Abuja as a government-sponsored protesters used axes, machetes and other dangerous weapons to disrupt the rally of a group led by Oby Ezekwesili, who are demanding serious action by the Goodluck Jonathan administration to rescue the over 200 girls abducted on April 14 from their school dormitories in Chibok, Borno State. A government-funded group of protesters with the inscription - #ReleaseOurGirlsNow was organized to counter the efforts of well-meaning Nigerians who feel the Jonathan administration has done too little, too late to find and save the abducted girls. The mandate of this new deadly group operating in Abu...

I've Married 2 of The Abducted Girls ––Boko Haram Kingpin One of the top Boko Haram leader, Hassan Ali, who was arrested by the local vigilante in Maiduguri three weeks ago, has confessed that he got “married” to two of the abducted Chibok girls in Sambisa forest. According to reports, Hassan Ali, a native of Kwapchi-Kilakise village allegedly killed his father, Mallam Hassan Arigizhe, and his uncle, Zakariya Ali. He was also said to have sanctioned the killing of his younger sister whom he forcefully took to Sambisa when she refused to accede to the séxual demands of one of the Amirs (leaders) in Sambisa, an act that elevated him to the position of Amir too. In his confession: “When we asked him about the abducted girls, he said they were all fine, that none of them was being hurt or molested; he said as a matter of fact he was betrothed to two of them as wives due to his position as Amir. He said they eat good food there – mostly canned foods and canned dr...

Four More Girls Have Escaped from Boko Haram Camp Secretly Luck has smiled on few of the families of the Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram as four girls out of the over 200 female students have managed to escape from the den of the highly dreaded terrorist sect. “The people of Chibok are anxiously waiting for the safe return of their children. Except for the unfortunate situation where two of the parents have passed on. They were known to have BP (blood pressure) issues, although I am not a medical expert, but they will not be opportuned to welcome back their daughters.  “Latest report reaching us is that instead of 53, those that have escaped are now 57 and those remaining are 164 and not 168 as before. This is out of the 221 girls that were abducted.” The Chairman, Chibok Local Government Area, Mr. Bana Lawan, announced this on Tuesday in Abuja at a one-day stakeholders meeting for validation of draft humanitarian response plan for the abduc...

'Stop abusing my husband!' -Patience Jonathan tells Nigerians! Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday advised Nigerians to desist from abusing her husband because God Himself made him the head of the nation. Mrs. Jonathan gave the advice while addressing children at an event she organised to mark the 2014 Children’s Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Quoting from the Holy Bible, she said God’s instruction to mankind to honour their parents was not limited to biological parents only. She said, “It is bad to abuse our country and the President because God has made him the head. “The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the president. “Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God’s commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the L...

SEE The Man Negotiating Between Jonathan and Boko Haram His name is Ahmad Salkida, a young man but very influential and he's one of the few men who has the access to Nigeria's biggest headache at the moment, Boko Haram. As a journalist with access to them, he has warned the government in clear terms that using force to rescue the abducted girls will most likely fail. Salkida, who facilitated the aborted negotiations between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram, reportedly told President Goodluck Jonathan before the deadlock that force could not bring the abducted girls back alive from the sect’s den for obvious reasons. Credible sources in the Presidency said Salkida met with government in Abuja and that he was blunt at the meeting, stressing that there are too many heavy weapons in Boko Haram camps. He disclosed that Boko Haram now has some of the best weapons in the world inside their camp.

War Against Boko Haram:  Nigerian Soldiers Say They Are Ill-Equipped, Betrayed By Commanders, Authorities In Abuja Nigerian soldiers who are in the forefront of the war against Boko Haram are increasingly disenchanted with their commanding officers as well as political authorities in Abuja, especially Minister of Defense Aliyu Gusau. Over the past three weeks, SaharaReporters has interviewed many soldiers based in the Boko Haram hotbeds of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States, and t heir views suggest a growing weariness about a war whose goals and strategies remain confused. The soldiers also said they welcomed the offer of help by the US, Britain, and France, adding that the use of surveillance equipment and human expertise from some of these foreign powers was likely to change the course and outcome of the long-drawn war that has claimed the lives of more soldiers than Nigerian authorities are willing to admit. We Are Now Ready To Negotiate With Boko Haram for The Girls ––Presidency To say the truth, the State Security Services, SSS, are doing their best to track down these wicked terrorists but it is also clear that these guys are increasing in number due largely to the high level of poverty in the region and the best option for now could just be dialogue and negotiation, lakesideinformationservices.blogspot.com observed. Boko Haram leaders do not mind if their members die, but we Nigerians are concerned and we do not wish for more innocent souls to be wasted while government is trying to flex muscle with a killer squad. It is a relieve to note that one of the insiders in the Presidency, the Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, has said that the Nigerian government is now willing to talk to Boko Haram about securing the release of the over 200 female students held hostage by the Islamic terror group. In his words:  “We are willing to carry that dialo...

SEE Why Asari Is Saying Boko Haram Did Not Kidnap The Girls People like Asari Dokubo and those who reason like him are finding it difficult to separate the deadly activities of the Boko Haram sect from politics. I, Olu Famous, was working in a Newspaper firm in Rivers State when Asari was terrorising the Niger Delta, I know many things people say about him are not true. But he should know that Boko Haram is not interested in stopping election, but stopping education, especially girl child education. If you can't understand this, you are yet to grasp the mess we are in. Before the local election in Borno State there was governorship and presidential, Boko Haram did not kill anybody. If Asari and other Niger Delta activists continue to support Goodluck Jonathan blindly rather than encourage him to do all in his power to stop Boko Haram, Nigeria may collapse. Yorubas never supported Obasanjo blindly, they condemned him openly whenever the need arise. There is ...

American Soldiers Arrive Nigeria To Flush Out Boko Haram Following the approval of President Barack Obama for the deployment of US Marines to the troubled Nigeria for the search and rescue of over 200 school girls kidnapped by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, the troops are in Nigeria to help the country’s security services tackle increasing threats. They are described in Wikipedia as “an amphibious, expeditionary, air-ground combined arms task force, capable of forcible entry from the air, land, and sea. It is capable of asymmetric warfare with conventional, irregular, and hybrid forces.  While the Marine Corps does not employ any unique combat arms, as a force it can rapidly deploy a combined-arms task force to almost anywhere in the world within days.” Nigeria is playing host to the 7th World Economic Forum Africa in Abuja amid heightened security challenges. The summit is expected to be attended by over 10 heads of state and government as well as...
