Happy Democracy Day! READ The Full Text Of President Jonathan’s Democracy Day Broadcast . Fellow Nigerians, 1. I greet and felicitate with you all, today, as we mark 15 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in our beloved country. 2. Our dear nation, Nigeria, has certainly come a long way and made notable progress since our first Democracy Day on May 29, 1999 when the military finally relinquished power and handed over to a democratically-elected government, marking the true beginning of a government of the people, by the people, for the people.” 3. Although I have ordered a low-key commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day in deference to the current mood of the nation, there can be no doubt that the past 15 years, the longest period of sustained democratic governance in our country, have been a blessing to us, as a people. 4. Robbers Kill Bank Manager & 4 Policemen, Cart Away Millions A gang of daredevil armed robbers on Wednesday shot and killed four policemen and a middle-aged man, said to be regional manager of a new generation bank at Igwurita community in the Ikwerre area of Rivers State. The incident which took place at 9:45am at the Igwuruta roundabout forced motorists plying the Airport Road to speed off while those who were near the scene abandoned their cars and scampered for safety. Like the motorists, pedestrians using the Airport Road also took to their heels on hearing the sound of gunshots, to avoid being hit by stray bullets. “The operation took place at the Igwuruta Roundabout. The armed robbers must have hidden somewhere waiting for the policemen to come out of the bank before they struck.” A witness said the bank manager was one of those in the vehicle which was conveying an unspecified amount of money to a destination when the daredevil robbers struck and c...

UPDATE: Senate Committee Did Not Absolve NNPC or Diezani ––Senator Bukola Saraki There is a calculated attempt by agents of the Presidency to sell a lie to Nigerians that Sanusi Lamido was not in any way saying the truth about missing Oil money and that Petroleum Minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke and her men at the NNPC have been cleared of the allegations. Here is a clarification: The recent media reports claiming that the Senate Committee on Finance has cleared the NNPC of any unaccounted revenue fund is not true. Though I could not attend the last meeting of the committee, I have been very active in the investigation. Nothing significant has changed to suggest clearing anybody. I can say on behalf of the Committee that these media reports bear no correlation to the content of the Senate Committee report and I would urge the public to disregard it in its entirety. That the Committee is yet to receive the report on forensic audit and independent analysis o...

Presidency-Sponsored Thugs Attack #BBOG Protesters In Abuja Nigerian leaders are a bunch of shameless folks. They can send thugs to attack their fellow citizens but do not have the guts to mobilize soldiers into Sambisa Forest to rescue our girls, OluFamous.Com observed. All hell was let loose on Wednesday at the Unity Fountain in Abuja as a government-sponsored protesters used axes, machetes and other dangerous weapons to disrupt the rally of a group led by Oby Ezekwesili, who are demanding serious action by the Goodluck Jonathan administration to rescue the over 200 girls abducted on April 14 from their school dormitories in Chibok, Borno State. A government-funded group of protesters with the inscription - #ReleaseOurGirlsNow was organized to counter the efforts of well-meaning Nigerians who feel the Jonathan administration has done too little, too late to find and save the abducted girls. The mandate of this new deadly group operating in Abu...
